hi all, im just wondering as im not massive into lamaping, but how do you lads operaate with a red filter? track the rabbits then take it off as you get close to them? and does anybody have a lurcher which seems to just turn the rabbits all over? my whippet bitch seems to turn turn and turn again, its not annoying but id like a quicker kill sometimes, she manages to get them back off of fences nd long grass so its not too bad.

your answers in your post as far as how the whippets performing, if you,re not massively into lamping your dog probably hasn,t had enough trips out yet to be snatching them up easily :hmm:

cheers for all the replys, and yes she has a confident strike, she gets lamped about once or twice a week, but they aint no big fields with big numbers, just ones or twos on paddocks and hills, she just seems to play about turning etc, but she rarely looses so i think thats why, and how do you use a dimer? i have a dimmer switch, do you just turn it right down walk up to it blast it up?

the thing with a filter its not all about dimming the light etc its that you can pick an eye up alot better, you get rabbits squatting out in stubble ect they take some spotting without one, with a filter on if its out there youll pick it up, myself could never lamp without one, i find by leaving it till the last sec as the dog gets out to the bunny then flicking it of the dog alot of the time can get very close before the rabbits lifts but everybody lamps different and what works for one wont for another
