oldred58 340
I see people asking for them, and some others selling them on this site. Me personally I would rather pack in the dogs if I ever thought I needed to use one. Quote Link to post

Guest thebigdog
for people who are too stupid to train a dog, people had no problems training without them since dogs were domesticated. sure as f**k not needed now 1 Quote Link to post

Mickey Finn 3,016
for people who are too stupid to train a dog, people had no problems training without them since dogs were domesticated. sure as f**k not needed now So, I'm stupid? G.F.Y.S. Granted, there have been countless dogs trained to a high standard without one. But, for timely corrections, you can't beat an e-collar. With one, the training moves along much quicker. Because the dog knows right away he's made a mistake. Don't be afraid of E-collars. ATB 1 Quote Link to post
swagboy 9
i have one for a bitch that wont stop barking she is worked every day and out working 2 / 3 times a week and all she did was bark. i have the hand set in with me but all i have to do is use the warning, she gets 2 warning's then a low zap it took about 3 days for her to stop now all i have to do is warn her if it was not for the collier she would of been pts as all she did was bark did not tack one bit of notes of the hose pipe or a firm hand. i fort she would grow out of it but it just got whirs. i sad that i wood nether have one but wood not be with out one now atb swag Quote Link to post
danw 1,748
The problem for me doesn't lie with the collar in the right instance they can be a fantastic tool but too many twats get them and use them as a means to discipline the dog. 1 Quote Link to post
skycat 6,173
Self discipline and self knowledge, plus the exact skill of how to use a collar properly are necessary. Too many people either don't train the dog to respond to these collars, (they skip the conditioning process) or they get mad if it doesn't work (probably once again having skipped the initial process) and say to themselves "I'll zap this bast*rd and make it do what I want or else!!!" You then have a truly horrible instrument of torture and a very freaked out, damaged dog. IMO only to be used if all else fails or on a dog which is dangerous to itself or others, and by someone who understands exactly how to correct such a dog. And to understand how to correct a dog properly and fairly, you need to understand its behaviour, the triggers to a certain behaviour etc etc. These collars are NOT a cure all by any means. 1 Quote Link to post

Guest Josy
Never used one, but would not rule out using one in the future. Times move on and so does the kit we use, only a fool doesnt move with the times. Quote Link to post
