andyfr1968 772
After years of being a smoker and several failed atempts to stop, I finally went to see my GP who prescribed Champix. I've been on them since last Monday and as the chemist told me by now fags are tasting pretty foul so my quit date of next Wednesday should be good. The thing is the side effects are a bit weird. I was warned about this and given a leaflet explaining what to look out for but I feel high as a kite, full of energy, constant dry mouth and some of the strangest most vivid dreams I've ever known once I finally manage to get to sleep. I had a couple of friends who've had results with Champix but they didn't have the side effects I'm having. I'm still only on a half dose and don't start the full one 'till Monday. Anyone else used it? Cheers. Most smokers cant pack in cos there weak thats why they started in the 1st place As ashamed as I am to admit it, you've a good point there..... andyfr1968 772
Mate defiantly check champix side effects on google cause I just typed it in champix side effects an it came up with quite a lot from mood swings to bypola an on one web site it said if you feel any change in your behaviour you should stop taking them an consult your doctor a few suicides have also been linked to champix but wouldnt want to worry him to much I've just done a search on Champix and all sorts of stuff's come up If it continues as it is I can cope, it's actually quite a nice feeling apart from having trouble going to sleep. If it starts going the other way then I'll knock them on the head straight away as I've no Mrs to kill anymore as i said i was the opposite couldnt stay awake it got to the stage i couldnt sit down without knodding off Reading through the leaflet they gave me, it's full of cotradictions. Some can go hyper while others veg out, May cause constipation or the squits. May cause urine retention others may need to go more often. It's like they've just made it all up!!

Nik_B 3,790
Worked for my missus. As far as the dreams go I get mad dreams if I wear a nicotein patch over night.....I've no intention to stop smoking at the moment but sometimes I just wear one for the mad dreams.

shell 42
I used them about 3 years ago... managed to get me off the cigs, so would recommend them! I had really strange dreams too! Really wierd and vivid! I just woke up after taking them for about 2 weeks and didn't want to smoke anymore. Simple as that! Lit up, thought 'ergh', and never lit up again! Like I say, I've been off them for over 3 years now. It's gone allright, but there are still times I could have a smoke! You've got to tell yourself not to be so fukin daft and don't do it! Good luck, all the best, shell

It's funny how a drug that was first ment to be a mild anti-depresant ( and failed!!) ended up as a huge comercial sucess for the drug company as something else Cock-ups can pay after all
