i no all dogs of different types are totaly different in matureing , but i was killing bunnys with a 6mths old whippetgreyhound x labador with ease 20 year ago , wish i had him now , mind you in saying that there was plenty to go at then.and 20 year ago i was as keen as the dog .

I was lamping rabbits with my first dog at 6 months of age didnt do him any real harm a lot of easy runs and he turned out to be my best ever dog although it was prob the time and effort i put in to him and not the early start , with a lot more pathence experience and a few more dogs under my belt i wouldnt do it again i would wait till 8 or 9 months but every dog is different

When I was 11 I had my first lurcher and I use to write everything down, jabs, training stuff and also catches. Well I was reading through this the other day and she caught her first hare at 6 months old. This was on the fens too and in march. She then caught them weekly from then on. I would like to have her again now just to compare to the dogs I keep now. I thought she was special, but she was my first dog.......but who knows, maybe she was special.

cracking this site, on 1 thread folk are ripped apart for entering dogs young, then you come on this thread an most folk admit to starting there dogs young an not only that, most are saying the dogs that started early turned out to be the best of all lol  i believe same as mr mitchem, if its in them its in them, starting them young wont do them no harm, if you use your head :victory:

one thing ill never do as other topic,,says 9 weeks,,,,(A) its not long off the tit,,&,,(B) winter time out and about with 9 week pup ,,,-20c it will frezze to death

i think theres no thumb to rule on age,,,,,just down to owner doing whats right,,,and not being a tube
