long dogs 580
Brilliant read bud.....kind of sums up why I could never really be into digging though, I don't know how you guys do it! call me soft but I don't think I could cope with the emotional rollercoaster!!!! big respect to you and your dogs though PS. that red dog was a stunner! IMHO, working terriers will put most lurchers to shame.....when you see a good one it lets you know the meaning of heart & guts..........if you ever own a lurcher that is as good as a working terrier then you have something very special indeed to my mind. elisderyn 496
I think its down to personal standards with the dogs. The fella who showed me the craic has his high standards and wouldnt keep shit for long to be honest & as I did all my hunting with him I followed suit. A terrier should find & stay single handed until dug to or gets a bolt & in a nutshell thats whats required , Dont get me wrong at the end of the day they are still flesh & blood & not robots & even the very best of them can have off days I think most genuine terrier lads will admit that. If lads want to keep terriers that do the okey cokey or dogs that need to be doubled up then as long as they are happy then thats up to them just dont try to palm them off as true working terriers & if your going to breed inferior stuff like that dont bullshit about things. To be honest breeding from these type of dogs are why there is so much shite about now but there you go. As far as comparing Terriers to Lurchers I would favour the terrier everytime but thats because Im biased but I think if someone owns a Lurcher that does everything thats its asked to do then its more valuable to that particular owner than any terrier.......The same goes with Lurchers though (WHEN IT WAS LEGAL) The amount of 100% fox dogs about was amazing but one persons idea of a "Foxing" lurcher certainly isnt mine , My mate has a dog that has taken (tracked) 60 foxes single-handed IMO that is a proven fox dog & anyone who knows the craic knows that a good sized Dogfox during mating season is'nt easy by any stretch. f**k me I'm rambling...!!! 5 Quote Link to post
