keepitcovert 842
Im pretty sure most of you guys like myself have had times when lamping when you could have come unstuck. Heres one of mine, me and a mate had planned a shine one night, anyway last minute he rings up cant make it for some reason. So i thought ill go on my own, place i was lamping is flat land and pretty remote, if any of you guys know hempholme youll know what i mean, weather was cold and quite breezy. Had to walk about a mile from the car, anyway couple of rabbits later, the wind gets up to something like gale force, starts to snow and lightning flashing away, by now snows coming in horizontally, visibilitys down to about ten feet and me and the dog look like a pair of yettis. I thought stuff this no point in going on, head back to the car, although i knew that ground like the back of my hand i couldnt make out any of the features, and had to admit i was lost. By now i was pissing wet through and freezing and got down in a ditch to shelter. After an hour snow relented and i managed to find my way back to the car in what looked like a white prairie. Final indignity was i had to piss on the door lock to get in the car, and was praying that it would start. Just shows never to take things for granted no matter how well you think you know the ground. YIS KIC 1 Quote Link to post
Tyla 3,179
Getting lost isnt funny. You always laugh about it after but at the time it can be a right shitter. Its happened to me a couple of times in fog on some big open land i have, no landmarks, loads of deep ditches, its very easy to get turned around. I did it the other day out for as mooch, I was exploring some waste land, reedbeds with little hidden grass clearings all divided up by drainages ditches and willow woods. Loads of rabbits about and i lost track of time, it was getting dark and i was stuck. I knew where i wanted to go but kept getting cut off by the ditches and couldnt see where i'd got through on the way in. I was seriously considering wading/swimming the ditchs before i finally found the way out! 1 Quote Link to post
