tide flight on dusk today on the wash with wet feet but great fun

Recommended Posts

well i have been on holiday this week so i thought i would get a few flights in down the marsh , i had a look at the tides for the week decided that it would be better later on towards the end of the week with the tides running on dark , i had a couple flights earlier in the week with some good results ..

well today the tide was at 16.10 today and a 7.1... which i knew would make the creek tops and it would be ok to sit it out .. i was pushed for time today with getting ready for the farm shoot on friday , i was a bit late getting down to the gate and when i got there , there was about 20 twitchers on the see wall and i had to walk through the middle of them .

i set off along the sea wall and met 2 more twitchers who i have seen on a few occasions down there, i stopped for a quick chat with them and they said there was plenty of fowl flying about with this tide , i agreed and said i was more or less going out to the front if i could beat the tide to the big creek i had to cross to get to where i wanted to be ,they just shook there head and said i was mad , i said my goodbye and was on my way again .

well i knew i was running late, so i made quick pace across the marsh trying to get out to my chosen spot in time ... there was plenty of fowl flying about on the way out .. which got me more or less running at one stage and i broke into a good sweat but i made good time to where i had to cross the creek but it was to late... it was well in flood **** i thought , so now it was a change of plan , so i carried on walking up the side of the creek and got in a little run off that came off the big creek ..

i got settled and got the mutt in and looked back towards the sea wall i could see all the twitchers on there .. i had a little laugh to myself and thought all eyes would be on me .well 10 minutes into the flight 7 teal came up the creek towards me , i took one with my first shot which sent the rest vertical and taking another 2 for 2 shots a nice 3 out of 3 all clean kills ...

well the tide started making into my little creek and around my knees , i thought to myself that feels a little cold in my left boot , then i thought that feels a little cold in my right boot arr 2 holes in my chest waders... well i was wet now so what could i do , it was well into the flight and i had few more ducks shot , so i put the gun down and got the camera out to take a few pics of a fantastic sun set ..
