yea its something you get really into. i took pictures at each stage and it is great to see the stick from the start to finish

Oman. What tools did you use after cutting out the heads. Was it rasps and knives, or special carving tools?

Thank you.

Hi it was carved using rasps, files and knives. No special carving tools used all items that you would find in your shed. The only other tool that i used was a dremel to shape the mouth and eyes on the duck. Have you tried any yet.

Thanks. No I haven't tried yet, but I have managed to get a couple of old stocks, both of which are solid.

Not sure what design I'm going to try, but something very simple to start with!!

Hey guys feeling pretty proud of this little project,as it's something I've never really done.
I was after a nice stick for walking the pooch, sourced some seasoned hazel of a friend some antler for the handle and hardwood for a spacer/reducer. I used linseed oil on the stick which I'm happy with.
My question is what would be best to use on the antler crown? Some sort of resin? I've seem some that have a blacked out crown polished up like glass, what is that?
      Any help would be appreciated.
      Many thanks
      Pete.
