Guest Lurcherbitch
This dog is a greyhound, his nails started to brittle, break off and expose the quick, leaving just a stump like thing. When the nail grows back it grows upwards with other nail still there. There is no infection. The vet wants to amputate the toe to send of for tests to see if it is lupas. ....I have adviced no to this suggestion. Also to change her vet, as any vet that wants to amputate somet befor they even know whats wrong is bloody sick, imho. So i said i would get on here and ask, as you have helped me out befor & some of you actually know what your talking about Edited April 3, 2007 by Millet
Dawn B 212
Hello my moggy loving friend. I board a greyhound with Lupus, she is now 11yrs old and in FABULOUS condition, Ill find you a pic. Her nails break away then fall off exposing the white stumpy quick. She hasnt had any toes removed, and im sure you dont need to do that to get a diagnosis, but testing for it would be a good idea I think. The only meds she is on is very occasional anti-biotics if the nail bed becomes infected (twice in over two years) and Nicotinamide tablets from the health shop. Dawn.
