skycat 6,173
For God's sakes don't take a pup of 6 months out on the bike yet; especially if it has been left sitting in a pen all that time. What idiot brings a pup up like that anyway! The pup will be underdeveloped in every way: heart, lungs, weak joints and tendons and no muscle at all. The last thing it needs is to be trotting for miles by the side of a bike: I'd say that for any pup under 10-12 months old even if it had a 'normal' puppyhood where it got to gallop around and play and learn how to use its legs. Still more so with a pup which has been neglected in the way your's has. Just walk it on the road for the moment, on the lead for the first couple of weeks, then gradually build up to letting it run around a bit. Don't do more than 2-3 miles walking per day for at least a fortnight. It will take a long time for the pup to catch up to where it should be at this age. Treat it like a pup of 3 months old, not one of 6 months, and you shouldn't go too far wrong.
