potshot86 0
Hi everyone. Managed to bag my first pheasant yesterday, got it home and hung it up ready to be plucked and cleaned this tuesday. I have just checked up on it and have found mites on its neck. Will these taint the meat or will it still be ok to eat? Don't want to have to throw my first pheasant away,

Were they in the feather or on the meat?
Lab 10,979
Same here, never heard of that. Did you leave it anywhere where they could have crawled onto the bird?
stevoman 4
i have seen them on a pheasant before. dont worry they fall off after the bird is dead. just keep the dog and fowl clear of it etc.
