And you will mix with men young and old,Something alot of Youngsters don't get to do,Learn Respect for your Elders,plus gain respect from them ,when you've done a good Job!,twoway street..Sometimes 15yr old just seem to see Stick from Older People or it seems that way ! out in the Field things even up a bit better 1 Quote Link to post Share on other sites
Mooch. 177 Posted November 22, 2011 Report Share Posted November 22, 2011 Find a shoot, find out where the keeper lives and go and see him. Dress apropriatly, no need to wear a suit but don't go dressed like chav or p***y either. If you want to take a dog don't mention it yet, get a few shoot days under your belt first before considering bringing a dog along. The keeper doesn't know you yet and the worst thing in the beating line is an out of control dog. Also, you need to learn what is expected of you which you won't do if you are concentrating on your dog. Oh, and don't just rock up on a shoot day, the keeper's got enough to worry about without strangers turning up asking to walk through his pheasant pens! If you have real problems finding a shoot there are a couple of websites that claim to help beaters find work (nobs or pubs) but I haven't heard particularly good things about either of them and nothing beats asking the keeper direct. eddie3 9 Posted December 1, 2011 Report Share Posted December 1, 2011 try looking or asking in your local gun shop,or farm shop, smaller syndicates might be a easier way in , bigger keeper ed shoots do,not always need a lot of beaters, good luck keep trying do,not be put off with a few knock backs .
