Has anyone put a cat flap in a double glazed door?

I bought a cat flap (for glass) for my sis for xmas, with the intention of paying for the glaziers to fit it. Phoned the glaziers this morning and they said the whole glazed panel would have to be re-made with the hole in it :icon_eek: This would mean loads of ££££'s.

Is it possible to do it without a new glazed panel please?

They are sealed, gassed, pressurised units Von, so I doubt if there is an easy way round it. :( Maybe a replacement UPVC panel would be cheaper? The only thing is you'd loose the light from the bottom half of the door.

Ok so you can get a pannel in the bottom , that they can cut for the flap . if you can get the glass out measure the size and thickness , and just buy one . Easy, should`nt be much . If you cant get one , PM me i`ll see if i can get one for you .

I dont think it works like that Buster, i asked if they could not just take out the existing panel and put a hole in that and put it back in, which would be the same as putting it in a new one??? The impression i got was they had to make a new one with a hole in it?
