Whippet showing aggression

Recommended Posts

my younger whippet dog seems to be getting possessive about certain things and is showing a little agression towards the older whippet. He only does it with rabbits, bones or his favourite toy. They can eat out of the same bowl without any troubles but when it comes to his "precious" its a different story. Its especially problematic when a rabbit is involved. Last night i gave them a rabbit skin to play with and when he saw the older one with it got ran at him growling an had a snap it him. The other whippet is very gentle and unconfrontational but he will defend the odd bone. He looked qutie scared and came to me for comfort. He's a real softy. Can they pick up this behaviour from other dogs? because i have an australian cattle dog who my younger whippet dog has been raised with and he is very aggressive about things and wont let anyone near his bones etc. If he sees another dog with anything of his he just charges at them as fast as he can teeth bearing. Do you think he could have picked up some aggression from him? It doesn't seem to be a problem when they are hunting though, they seem to work together quite fine. Should i leave it be or try and correct this kind of behaviour.
