what makes a good hound

Recommended Posts

A good hound would be one that does the job required of it. I owned half a dozen all had different natures only some suited the job at the time. We hunted on large tracks of srub land back in those days and used hounds to push game over large distances to waitting guns. an independent hound that could push a trail and give a loud voise while doing so was a good hound.

These days I hunt small parcells of swamp land that are surounded by open farm land a good hound is one that will push through the kurbungi and if no one is home come back so we can move on to the next patch and when they do push a fox out to the stag hounds go to the catch and note f*ck off on another trail.

Ive not owned any of late though some of the bitches I tried out when hunting the way we did years ago would have been perfect for the way we hunt now days.
