Adding new land to closed fac

Recommended Posts

Hi could some one tell me how to add new land to a closed fac in Gloucestershire. I have just applied for my fac and was wondering when I get new land to shoot how do I add it and will I have to pay to add it ? Can't find the answer anywhere on the net.

Thanks for your help

Just notify your constabulary head quarters that you have authority to shoot there and wish for it to be included on your certificate

They will then make the relevant safety checks etc and other criteria , they will then notify you for you to send in your FAC for amendment if everything comes back ok and they will write in such on your current certificate all the details and conditions and return it to you and it should be free of charge as no extra firearms or ammunition extras are involved.

Might be different in other areas but they should be no mention of the land you shoot on ,on your fac so they should be no amendments to be done.all the other things apply though ,safety checks etc. Then they will let you know if you can shoot on there with your calibre you chose.

The answer really depends on if the land has been checked before. If it has been checked and cleared for the calibre you shoot, then all you need to do is make sure you have proper permission. There is no need to notify the plod (though it's often an idea to ring them to "check" if land is covered. They will record the check, and the more land they think you have the better your chances of getting the cert opened sooner). If the land isn't cleared, then you will need to write saying that you have a new permission and you want them to check it out. I don't know how long Gloucestershire are taking at the moment, but it will normally be a few weeks to get an FEO to come out.

When you first apply you have to show you have authority to shoot. I got a mate of mine, who has 180 acres of farm, to sign for me. This land is to show you have reason to own what ever gun your after. Since getting my .22 lr and 17hmr i have obtained other permissions. Each time i just contacted my FAO, i keep his card in my wallet, and ask to make an appointment for him to view what ever land it is. I also fill out a 'request for additional information' form for every new permission. I keep a copy and i send a copy to the FA Department. The last time i wanted the FAO to come out was to have a look at the back stop i have built in the field next to my house. It's just to use as target/zeroing. He said he would be out on the Monday and i said i would not be able to make it then, he told me that that was ok and he would take a look and let me know. On the Monday afternoon i get a phone call from him telling me it was OK, he said he had put a 'request for addotion information' form in my letter box. Filled it in, sent it off, it was that easy. Nearly forgot. it's all free, you don't have to pay .

Hi

Before my cert was opened I used to ring the feo give him the name of the farm/ land and ask him to do a check on his computer personally all land I have asked to be checked has come back ok for all calibres I have as at some time or another it's been cleared and kept on their data base,I never have to send the cert in it's just logged on my file at headquarters,i was lucky not to have to do land visits etc,

As above , in my neck of the woods anyway.

When you apply for or renew an FAC you only need one piece of suitable land that has been cleared for that particular calibre.

If you find new permissions in the near future, you just need to inform your local constabulary and they will tell you if that particular piece of land is suitable or not,
