got a pm of a lad off of here asking if i fancied a wee shine with the lamp locally, decided i would give my old bitch a run after a 10wk lay off, met up and he brought his saluki half x pup, into the first field and there was a fair few rabbits around, first slip to the bitch and she was keen to get there, put a turn on it and struck at the bunny taking a tumble but keeping hold of her prize, the lad i was out with noticed she was lifting the leg again but i checked her over and she seemed fine, not a whimper, on a bit and next bunny was down, it lifted and the saluki x was slipped, it made a beeline for the fence but the dog put good pressure on the bunny and it run along the fence line and the big pup got down well and picked up his prize, flicked lamp on again and another rabbit, slipped pup again but being young he still has to find his eyes for the clampers, my bitch was pulling so i slipped her and after a short run she picked up the rabbit without losing any pace, 3 in the bag within 10 minutes, a quick drive to another bit and into another field, very surprising to see nothing here, so a quick walk round just to make sure and back in the motor and onto another bit, quick shine from motor and dogs out again, and another in the bag, called it a night after that, not a big bag but enough to get the pup going and ease the old lass back into it. lad was chuffed with his 14mth old pup and i was happy with my bitch considering her being over 7 and having had 10wks out with an injury,

That made me smile this morning , your evening sounded very similar to mine, i ran my two last night from my friends truck , i was not sure how it would work with both dogs , as they are young and very competitive with each other, so i popped my crate in the back , and covered it with a blanket to avoid any noise ! ran the small bitch first and really pleased she is now using her brain and not missing many , The larger bitch is very keen and has a great turn of speed , but still a lot to learn , it now makes me realise how much my other bitch has come on since last year. One of the rabbits killed his self ! he ran into the land rover wheel , lucky my bitch had the sense to swerve , I also squeaked a fox for the driver with his gun, all in all a good night, so tonight its beer on me night for taking me out

good luck with the young dogs mate, it'll come to the bigger bitch in time, she'll soon learn that top gear is'nt always the best gear and that pace isnt the be all and end all.
