skycat 6,173
Calcium is only necessary if you feed muscle meat only. If you feed chicken carcases, lamb ribs, rabbit carcases etc etc, then you don't need calcium supplements.
oddser 79
bones containe the correct proportion of calcium and phosphorus but if a dog ate enough bone to meet its daily needs it would cause digestive problems using a meat based diet without supplimentation of calcium can lead to bone disorders i use DCP dicalcium phosphate its the nearest compound to bone

oddser 79
they survive because they dont get run 12 times a night so they not coming under as much stress on bone ligaments plus they get a more varied diet in wild
bullmastiff 615
Basic supplements are a bit of a sham, trying to get you to part with your hard earned for something that's in a decent diet anyway. But there's reasons why Athletes are banned from using certain supplements.... The governing bodies class it as cheating. When combined with effective training, certain supplements can help the body in all sorts of ways. From supplying massive amounts of protein to help build up muscle mass (Bodybuilder protein shakes), to things like Creatine (can be dangerous) that can increase endurance, slow Lactic acid build up and help enhance muscle recovery (basically meaning you can train for a lot longer period with less time needed to let the muscles repair). These sorts of Supplements can do a bit of damage if not used correctly, so their not for the novice to play about with. A guy I work with tried Creatine but used it for slightly longer than the recommended time and has now broken out with really bad acne! lol teach the bugger to try and cheat! Racing Greyhounds are randomly checked for certain substances but Lurcher racing/competing in competitions aren't, so they get used a lot more frequently and sometimes openly.
