Dawn B 212
DAWN ,, A FEW YRS AGO , I WAS UP IN NORTHUMBERLAND AT A SHOW TO SEE A LAD ............ WHILE THERE WE WERE CLASHING OUR GUMS AND GENERALLY PUTTING THE DOG WORLD TO RIGHTS , I NOTICED A FELLA WITH A BORDER , YOU KNOW THE TYPE ALL MOLESKINS AND SHINEY BOOTS .... NEXT THING I SAW THE SAME FELLA IN A DIFFERENT COAT / HAT ETC SHOWING A RUSSEL ?, ........... SO I KEPT AN EYE ON HIM ............. THE UPSHOT WAS HE WAS SHOWING TERRIERS IN EVERY CLASS WITH A DIFFERENT DISGUSE IN EACH THAT WOULD HOPEFULLY BE SYMBIOTIC WITH THE DOG/ JUDGE ........ BEST ONE WAS WHEN HE SHOWED THE FELLS , HE WAS RE - DRESSED IN DIGGING GEAR COVERED IN MUD PATHETIC OR WHAT ???? TO ME ITS JUST ANOTHER EXCUSE TO KEEP AWAY FROM PRETENDERS ALL THE BEST DUCKWING Thats a classic Duckwing, I wish I was there with my camera! dawn. Edited April 2, 2007 by Dawn B Quote Link to post
Kane 2
only if you give a shit about winning,if working dogs is your thing steer clear of show bred shit and dont buy a trophy cabinet Quote Link to post
elisderyn 496
The shows , for me are about getting together & talking about the dogs while having a drink.............Some , even "names" take it all far too f*****g seriously & I have seen a few "strops" as a result...........If a show winner is doing the job it was bred for then fair do's but the vast majority of "winners" are doing feck all...& then as a result of being a "winner" it is dropped on various bitches..More so if the "winners" owner is a "respected" terrierman........This situation is certainly detrimental to the working terrier imo...... wren 8
Shows should be FUN The 'show mad people' just make themselves look ridiculous with their vehicles and trailers bulging with dogs so they have an entrant for every class (oh please ) and if the misfortunate mutt dosent make it in the show ring, up for sale they go But, like it or not, these people put ££££££ into the kitty to help clubs, charities, hunts etc) Good true working dogs, lurcher of terrier, will always be there, because working dogmen and women will make sure of that Quote Link to post
