First lurcher. Any tips?

This is me and my greyhound x bull, she was given to me from my cousin who had told me she had been out once or twice with him. She is only 8 month old. When I took her out she seemed to be more bothered about sniffing round the floor, is this normal? I was with a few mates when I was out so could this be the cause of this? How would I go about getting her into working? I've never had to train a lurcher to work so any advice will be a great help

Get her out with a dog that's working and someone to show you the ropes too lad , we've all got to start somewhere so dnt be afraid to ask better to learn and ask than ruin the bitch find out if there's anyone around where you live to take you under their wing someone will help you mate ps good to c a newcomer to the sport atb and good luck chris

yes its normal for them to sniff about its all new cents whats around go out with sum one who is experianced to show you what to do

You will now when she has switched on she will be tugging on the lead but you need to get a basic book on training mate have a good read it's not just about getting out there on the lamp you've got to get her retrieving to you jumping etc dnt just go out get a book and ask the questions youl be glad you did in the end atb chris

There's a DVD out mate it's called purdeys progress mr pit off here is doing copies of it pm him he will send you a list and sort you out supposed to be good for basic training mate hope this helps you atb chris

I'm from south Wales mate I can't help you down here so let's get all the Cumbrian lads to help this lad out I know I would if I was closer seems like a geniun tidy boy help him out lads

do not listen to most the tools on this site, thats the best tip i can give you other than that, get out an you an the dog will learn together
