earth-thrower 493
As i only ever had one or two golf courses for moles,i recently 'canvassed' quite a few others in my area. All in, about five courses had mole problems. They were all interested , but three of them couldnt afford it,as they had financial difficulties.I surveyed and priced the remaining two ( i wasnt feeling very optimistic).I managed one, and the other thought it was too much.(couldnt have priced it any less!) I think i was lucky even to get the one.Sign of the times,im afraid. Quote Link to post

Steve Albano 21
Sign of the times, indeed. The situation is just the same here in California. We used to do mole and gopher control on about 18 golf courses and I think we are down to 12 now. In these times, there just aren't as many people willing to hand over the fees to play golf. The courses are definitely hurting, and they are definitely cutting back on expenses. Quote Link to post
3175darren 1,100
I agree with steve money tight, but seem to be a glut of moles this yr haveing to keep the boundrys of my bits well trapped, but one or two new customers coming from the farming side, Quote Link to post
DKGPestControl 22
Its the same in the south. People just don't want to pay! Its only my customers with large houses and picture perfect gardens that still want them caught. I was getting 4 domestic mole control calls a day only 4 weeks ago, with most of them going ahead, Now with the xmas adverts on tele and all they don't want to let the cash go! Going to be a long slow winter for sure Quote Link to post

Rolfe 2
If you charge realistic prices and are good at what you do........then you will always be in demand..........simple as.........I have noticed NO drop in my services for mole control to be perfectlly honest, although i may just be lucky in as much as there are no serious mole catchers in my area...! 3175darren 1,100
Thats the problem,no one will say what they charge openly Quote Link to post
HUnter_zero 58
Thats the problem,no one will say what they charge openly £50 set-up inc. 1st mole and £10 per mole afterwards.....more or less the standard charge. Times are very hard for all pest controllers, someone once said "pest don't know it's a recession", that might be true but the guy who pays the bill knows it's a recession. No specifically moles, but so many companies are going bust, general pest control is being hit. Top tip for moles is to try your local councils, most have now got rid of their pest controllers and have no real way to stop mole damage. You will get work from rounder-bouts to cemeteries. mackem 26,248
cemeteries. I live right next to a borough known as the Beverley Hills of Birtain, its reputed to have the highest standard of living in the country, they have kept their pest-control officer,I see him whizzing around in his van on occassion, but he isnt making inroads into the cem moles,I have seen loads of them, spoil heaps pop up everywhere between the stones,he tries,I have seen his trap markers around, but I dont think he is making a dent in the populations.
