springer pups, what is the best food for them

Recommended Posts

Ok so i got my springer pup yesterday, she came form a great litter. They are 7/8 weeks old and the man i got her from said they were eating nuts which he gave me a bag of and drinking water.

Now the journey home was a long one and i have to say my pup was anything but well for the whole journey. She was very sick, wretched up her stomach contents and the rest.

But in her sick she did throw up these nuts which were whole but soft.

We arrived home and i got her cleaned up, she has been up and about since but sleeping alot. I no she is a young pup.

She has been drinking and going to the toilet but she has not eaten anything since.

So i guess my question is:

Are these hard nuts the best thing to be giving her or should i try her on softer puppy tinned food ?

Also:

What food would you recommend ?

Thanks for reading.

so many choices, cheers for the heads up.

i mixed some nuts in the canned food earlier and she wolfed that down and just there now i gave her just nuts and not a bother to her.

all systems go now.

she is like a pup possessed at the minute running around the house and in and out of the back door to the garden in the dark and the wind and she loves it.

thanks again for the suggestions i will look at them all.

just one more question:

the man i got her from says he was leaving an unlimited amount of nuts for the pups to feed but now i have her on her own would i be better to give it just a few times a day rather than a bowl full for her when ever she wants ?

thanks,
