Shooting without a dog

Recommended Posts

I think it's fair to say you can shoot years without a dog but once you have one you really miss it on a mornings shooting. They really do make a difference. That said, I've spent a fair few years shooting without and still managed to put a bit of something in the bag with a gun in the crook of my arm and a stick tapping at the hedge.

Of course folk will say a dog is not needed but without one you will loose alot of what you've fired at. I'd never think of going shooting without a dog I think it's a lack of respect really. More so if your using a shotgun.

having lost my cocker ,that i always used for my shooting forays i have to admit its just not the same going out shooting with out a dog there is a big void that the dog fills.anyone that owns a working dog owes it to there companion to let it acompany them the dogs love it!

My Lab bitch was in season a few weeks back and missed a shoot day, it just wasnt the same for me as i like the dog work more than the shooting, so i had to take her rough shooting the very next day, just me and her you carnt beat it.
