Nasty Ferrets - Any Hope?

Recommended Posts

Thanks Deano,

My mate has had the really evil one off me as he doesnt work at the moment and can spend all day with it, he says its coming good already.

Ive just offered the better of the 2 for rehoming in the free rehoming section if someone has got plenty of times on their hands to sort her out. I think she needs a good few hours a day, just short sessions and she will probably come round. At the moment i spend half hour in morning and an hour at night sorting my ferrets out but it isnt enough for her i dont think.

Thanks

Gaz

Gaz: some ferrets just don't have good temperaments, same as some people and dogs. Yes, you may, after months of constant handling, get this jill a lot better, but if there is a nervy streak in her, s

Keep them well fed when handleing them alway's move slow and pick them up slow..if they do attemt to bite you i find that clenching your fist and ramming your knuckle in there mouth's seem's to deter

try and keep them seperated and give them some more time handling, see what happens then, if there's no change quick dispatch.

open there mouths and put your finger in there leave it in there for as long as possible making sure that they cannot move there bottom jaw now every time they go to nip just keep repeating the process they soon latch onto this and i garantee they will stop nipping atb mike.

Did that with my kits mate, shes a full grown Jill with a nasty set on her though.

i had two jills a year old which had never been handled. they used two latch on the only way i stopped them biting was when they bit i would put them in the ferret carry box for five minutes no longer because they forget why they are being punnished they soon learn that biting gets them nowhere. nose flicking or nipping only works with kits.
