There are no words that sum up the pain you feel when you lose your companion but it's true that another never replaces them but helps to heal a broken heart.

Thanks everyone for your advice and compassion. I manned up today and had a look for a pup, which ended up with me getting one, I didn't think I would or could and nearly didn't. But with her sat by me now, I know it was the right thing to do, seems like a bit of a rush, but the house is too empty and the right mix for me came up an hour away from my home. I don't know her name yet, but she is a right lump and has put a smile on my face! Thanks once again.

nothing hurts like losing your first one,mine was over thirty years ago and i still remember that night,You did the right thing getting a pup though and better a shorter life lived happily than the existence some dogs get. When i think of the dogs i lost before there time, i think that they never had to get old and weaken ,hopefully they're running free somewhere else.

No what you are going through Sniffer.Lost one of my dogs last Thursday in a freak accident,she was just over two year old.Lost a dog years ago and could not bring myself to have another one for a couple of years.regretted that decision ever since.Picked me a pup up yesterday.Looks like we are both going to have a few sleepless nights but for better reasons.

my old unlce from donegal says to me thirty years a go running dogs will break your heart ,he was [bANNED TEXT] lost a few in the feild , you have to shake youre self blow the cobwebs and say this is what can happen , and get another but dont by rashly study what you are after , all the best

I've been in the dog game a long, long time, and it doesn't get any easier when you loose a dog ! I had to PTS my old Doberman last year, and my 17 year old Saluki before that. As most are saying, get another pup, and start again. All the best, mate.
