Tilly – A Tribute

Had the worst day of my life so far... yesterday. I lost my first and only dog I have ever owned, she taught me so much in the 19 months that I had her and is sorely missed. I always read people posts on here about there losses and I never comment them, partly because I always thought it was a strange thing to do and partly I have never experienced anything like it.

My god, I don't know what to do with myself!!! I take my dog everywhere I go, be it work, road trips, the school run for the 3 kids, everywhere. Yesterday I went to work and I always let her run on by the truck and across the fields at this particular place and I don't know what happened or why but I ran over her killing her instantly. Mortified doesn't even come close to it. She was just starting to come into her own and this was to be our first proper season together, we had 6 rabbit's the other night which was her best to date.

 

So I guess the next question is what do you lot do as part of the healing process? I have buried my dog under a big oak tree in the wood's and stuck a cross up with her name on it. Took me hour's to find the right spot, probably because I didn't know what else to do. There is talk of another dog but that will take some time or do you just get on with it? The kids are gutted and it affects pretty much everybody we come into contact with as she is always with us, being her loving, happy go lucky self.

 

Anyway, I'm sure many of you have had sudden losses like it and perhaps some of you blame yourselves as much as I do, you put everything you can into your dogs and freak accidents take them away... Which doesn't seem fair as there are so many @rseholes out there, that don't give 2 sh@ts about there dogs.

 

I hope my dog is at peace and chasing some big rabbits in the sky! R.I.P. Tilly

theres only one thing you can do mate get another, you will feel as guilty as hell. i know it sounds daft but after a while you will be glad you did.

So sad, really sorry for your loss. You must try as hard as you can not to blame yourself, i've had near misses with mine running next to the car and quad around the farm, could happen to anyone. You can rest assured that quite clearly from your post she had a short but brilliant life. RIP Tilly.

 

Get your self another pup, a distraction will help massively.

sorry about your loss. my first lurcher died at 2. i got another pup within weeks. put all my efforts into the pup to take my mind off things.time is also a healer. good luck for the future.

terrible to hear that mate your sad post was however very poignant and im sure the 19 months she had with you were brilliant and your correct too many lads dont appreciate there animals. your tilly had an owner who cherised her and your right she will never be forgotten

 

a new pup will help you get over the lost and fill the void

Really sorry for your loss mate, but you sound like a top dog owner and I think another pup would be lucky to be owned by you, plus I'm sure it will help you and your family too.

Fukinell mate, so sad, ive just got a lump in my throat reading that, i feel for you big time mate. as i have a beddlington whippet called TILLY ive had her since she was 8 weeks old and shes my best friend, i cant imagine losing her. your Tilly looks a beautifull looking bitch and very loving. heres a pic of mine. i dread the day she goes. Chin up buddy.

Thanks so much for your kind post's I had doubt's about putting this up as I thought it would end up with negative post's- you know how it goes around here.

 

We have been blessed to have had the time we did and I will start looking for a new pup.... It's reassuring to know know there some decent people out there. Thank you...

Sorry to hear that mate get yourself a pup to keep you busy and to make you laugh there's nothing better than laughing at a clumsy pup

sorry for your loss mate, i had to put my ferreting dog down last month after 16 years and i'm absolutely gutted.i still trying to get myself in the right frame of mind to get another( feel guilty)

get another pup it helps massively , my dog died this year at the grand old age of 17 and a half i was totaly gutted he went every where with me if you met me my dog was never more than 10 feet away , anyway i thought i had finnished with hunting but ive got a new pup now hes 19 weeks old and i cant wait to get out and the house is back to normal

mate my bitch died 10 days short of 19 month and all think its harder when they just pups and starting to come on well! But all you have to do is move on and get a new one in, 2 days later i had a new pup in and i felt guilty as hell for about a week as it was sort of taking my mind off my last bitch! got two pups now and i'm well happy now

just forget about thinking if i done this or done that the dog would still be here! Its know ones fault , its just life.... shit happens
