underdog1985 27
thats my philosophy, IF YOU DONT ENJOY IT, WHY DO IT,on the other hand is it a CRIME to try and make money at something you enjoy doing,in our cases the answer is probably yes Quote Link to post
Carraghs Gem 1,675
It raises the question who owns a lurcher? 1. The chop and changer, The young lad starting out who listens to bad advice and many a poor pup ends up ruined 2. The gambler its not the sport but the winning will have some good dogs but will sell on as the dog slows 3. The macho man he has the biggest nastiest dog or the fastest as soon as it jacks its gone 4. The plodder someone like me who just does a bit on the weekend but loves to see his dog work whatever its quirks 5. The pet owner someone who usually rescues abandoned lurchers 6. The breeder someone who makes money out of everyone and will breed whatever x is popular 7. The professional very few of these about but his dogs are his livelihood and his reputation feel free to add to the list think im number 4 Quote Link to post

morton 5,368
I enjoy taking the mutts out, most of the time, but sometimes there are times when you may have to be a little more serious to achieve a result,or fail to connect with chosen prey. Its handy to have a dog that can step up a gear at these times and then adjust back to the fun days in the field. reddawn 2,173
so what?? if you have always expected or come to expect nowt but the best from your dog then your a wanker??? surely that dont make sense? surely you cannot condem somebody for having decent standards, or exepecting a dog to make a certain grade lets face it there is some folk in life that are easily pleased, an then there are some who fight tooth an nail to be better in everything they do be it work, dogs or general life, cannot hold that against them, can we?? after all if we were all as easily pleased as the guy that started the thread, would we not be all still sat in caves seems a silly thread to me Quote Link to post

pritch 335
most people do this as a hobby therefore it should be fun & relaxing, now while iagree you should always try to improve yourself & your stock but enjoy it.it ain't all about numbers or havin the best dog, only one man can have the best dog the rest of us just have to get on with it & make the best of it we can Quote Link to post
omegathelast 160
The fact of the matter is, and always has been, there are more bad dog men than bad dogs. Most dogs, especially lurchers, will perform to a decent standard. It is the owners that fail the dogs 99% of the time, not the other way round. Sad but true. ...........i totally agree with the sentiments of your post btw Edited November 12, 2011 by omegathelast Quote Link to post
