stroller 341
It raises the question who owns a lurcher? 1. The chop and changer, The young lad starting out who listens to bad advice and many a poor pup ends up ruined 2. The gambler its not the sport but the winning will have some good dogs but will sell on as the dog slows 3. The macho man he has the biggest nastiest dog or the fastest as soon as it jacks its gone 4. The plodder someone like me who just does a bit on the weekend but loves to see his dog work whatever its quirks 5. The pet owner someone who usually rescues abandoned lurchers 6. The breeder someone who makes money out of everyone and will breed whatever x is popular 7. The professional very few of these about but his dogs are his livelihood and his reputation feel free to add to the list Quote Link to post
whin 463
you breed to get better or same to cacth the head of game you need , if dogs dont do it no piont in having them ,wht feed a cur if you can get qaulity , its not easy but then life isnt easy , my dogs are here to suit me ,which they do but took a while to breed them to that standard Quote Link to post
stroller 341
That raises a whole other set of questions whin. ive never bred a lurcher but have always bought pups. In my younger days i would have been over the moon with a ten rabbit night on the lamp but i wanted a dog to work with ferrets and the gun. So the dog ive bought would be collie/kelpie bred. but saying that my lad has a brilliant big saluki greyhound that does it all and i mean all. His secret of success is down to the time and effort the lad has put into the dog. there was a time when he wanted to get rid of his dog because he was listening to idiots but i told him no and he learned a lesson Its horses for courses hunting is a overwhelming passion for some people and they hunt every day and maybe they need different things Quote Link to post
whin 463
correct my freind , thats why some breed as well you could look forever , whatever you have qaulity breeding is a must or some times youll get sorely dissapionted at times , it takes a while but when you reap the benefits it pays off but you have to be open minded and travel to see good dogs ,as there not on your doorstep ,saw dogs bred [bANNED TEXT] cacth game of a fence never letting it through cutting corners , hitting cover thats breeding cause you cant train hunting intelegence 2 Quote Link to post
