Guest joball
I kept a full litter last time, I should of culled a few but two had been reserved buy idiots i have learned a hard lesson in life and will only breed for my own use and close friends only. Like she sex I don't think it should be talked about but I dont understand why people keep big litters on a bitch and are to soft to cull a few and give the remainder a better chance. Think it comes down to $$$$ Quote Link to post

bunnys 1,228
If your going to cull, i always thought the best time to do it was as they are born, or very soon after . ............. In which case drive wouldn't come into the equation! My guess would be smaller, weaker pups. Culling his a and has been a major part when breeding dogs for type work or ought for that matter ,small weekdogs with obvious signs of defects and for that matter when breeding pedigree types some get throw backs to dogs in the make uo of the breed and have no place in the type .usually bitches are kept for preference ,the very best stud dogs only then need to bebred on from .with all types pedigree and types we sometimes see deletrious effects coming to the fore, then culling needs to take place or should i say should take place the pedigree dogs of some types have a very small gene pool so the d effects start to appear ,, but this can also be seen in line bred types of any breedthe gene pool becomes to tight hte answer simple an outcross to another line of the same type ,the d effects will then be put to bed ,untill another outcross his required .scatter breeding can keep these maladys away ,and keep the vigour strong ,but has we know the very best of breeds come from family bred dogs .atb bunnys.
