Squirrel_Basher 17,100
Out last night with local Yokel ,his 223 and i took the .22 along as theres a few lepatiods about .Went to a very small place of only 3 fields but turned out to be a good move .The first two fields were shit spread with not much hope really but i spotted an eye up against the far hedge with the red filter and getting closer we i.d it as charlie.Off sticks Local had him at about 60 yds .Good start so onwards .The next field was shit free and the rabbits here were concentrated in this field it seemed and i set about them with the rimmy knocking over 10 before we left the place .Only 2 got away so a good job done .Onto the second part of this farm and a couple more rabbits for a good few shots it has to be said with a strong wind .While we were gutting these few ,local had a flick round and to our astonishment a fox had come into the field at about 130 yds .Local was down on the bipod and fetched this vulpine over .Up to the sloes now and shot a black rabbit ,the first ive seen for many years .Finished up walking to the entrance lane and bagging a few more rabbits with a couple of very big bucks .Over to another place and were confronted with a lot of new fencing that will deter the foxes for sure .Its now 6 foot high with an electrified top Did manage a hare here and 2 more rabbits though . Finished the night with 2 foxes and 20 rabbits and a bonus hare . 1 Quote Link to post

If so why dont these shooters get stung like us f****n dog men doo In Scotland Under the Hares Act 1848 and Hares (Scotland) Act 1848 it is an offence for 'anyone to use any firearm or gun of any description at night for the purpose of killing game'. In England no, hare coursing with dogs is illegal but not lamping with rifle, that's the reason shooters don't get stung its perfectly legal... Quote Link to post
skycat 6,173
And that's one of the reasons there are fewer hares about in certain areas of England nowadays: quite a few times I've found rifled hares on my land: just left, because the shooter shot them from over the boundary of his permission and just left them. They're not even a pest round my way, so why do it? People go on about kill hungry dog men, but there's more than a few shooters who are just the same: killing for the sake of it. 4 Quote Link to post

Well there's idiots involved everywhere penny IF they are not causing a problem and the landowner doesn't want them removing.. Nothing wrong with what the lads have done, I cannot see how a hare is any different to another animal being shot...Personally I'll be knocking them down soon and some lucky punter sat at home or in a restaurant will be filling his face with a fine organic meal...They need controlling just like any other animal, other suggestions to control numbers? Would people prefer snaring... Were talking control here, not a sporting day out.. Quote Link to post
