Good Ferreting dogs

ive only gave one good ferreting dog away to good home at 6 as she was not suiting my needs fallon,i think a good ferreting dog you need time and patience to train them ,or good bits to school them ,and fereting is a team event dog ferets locators spade , nets s why give one of the team away caut thirties with dog and ferret no nets so a handy asset so is a dog that knecks his game and clean kils them before the ban etc , worth there weight , a good ferreting dog is handy but a good allrounder more in my eyes

you probably hit the nail on the head there whin you gave it away with ferreting men its not about money

He give it away at 6 so took him 6 years to find out that it did not suit him does not make any sense

l brought my own dog out with her mother when she was old enough,6 7 months old plus nothing less.Yes the pup gets walked though sheep brought on walks where there is rabbits and stuff about but not out hunting but that is you way not mine.

Pup as to be field wise before going on it 1st hunting.Able to get over rivers,fences over or though and gates able to walk though live stock with out running about worrying them.PUP AS SO MUCH TO LEARN BEFORE ITS 1ST HUNT

 

no ones saying they let a 3 month old pup run a rabbit,,, if you think catching bolters is a ferreting dogs only purpose,, it lerns field wise as you call it whilst learning the skill of ferreting,, all at the same time,,, take it on its own let it lern from its own mistakes,,, not have to bow down to an older dog.

no its no t lazy its if there bred to be good allrounders im a fraid , as a lot cant box a hare in slip down a wood cacth his qauury thats breeding at times, wind ,cant be trained feet cant be traind pace cant be trained

where im from theres no boxing they eather kill it or they dont its over in a short space of time

of course beacause she was a good dog the people were over moon offerd me a pup of her but well didnt like stud ,not for me ,i never sell a dog thats past his prime and done me proud i give them to less taxing homes and keep in touch for further breeding etc or p t s mate,if a dog gives you 5 or 6 good seasons he deserves agood pet home if he has the nature

my pup sees afew warrens a few things hapenin then away back home or taken out the road so it does not get to exited , its all about easy entring and short and sweet , any body trained a dog to a feild trail standard as a pup the same a little bit at a time but let it see whats happening the soon lean and by the time they are old enough they are well ready and schooled

If dog gives you 5,6 good years deserves a place at the fire not ship out to someone else just to make space for your new dog not into that at all.If you where getting rid should have did it well before the age 6.That why pets homes are full old luchers past there time

Good adult dogs of any kind are hard to come by, because people don't sell them on.

I get what your saying but not that young what can a pup learn by a rabbit hitting a net?????Is the ferret dog not there to get the ones that bolt??????Yes they mark holes and all this but there mine propose is catch the bolters and a 10 week only or 3 month pup wont be able to catch bolters so what is the point off bring them.
