3175darren 1,100
I think they are a working animal pure and simple yes they can be tamed, but you never get shut of the smell, they are comical little things, once saw one bite a bloke on neck he had it running up his chest giving it a cuddle, served him right, to some up great little working animals can be well tamed but there's always a wild side behind the eyes, doubt if I would totally trust em and I have been around them all my life, Quote Link to post
Ideation 8,216
If you handle them well, and spend time with them they are fecking great. Intelligent, fun, quick, great little things. Can't imagine a better animal to keep, well, them and dogs. Quote Link to post

jac 12
they make great pets and IMO the better the bond the better the worker. me ferrets comes when called and they all know there own names. they do anything for me . but i did put in the time and gave them the respect they need. any animal can be used just as a working took , but nothing beats having them as a friend too 1 Quote Link to post

They're playful, entertaining, clever for small animals. The ONLY fault regarding them being good as pets is the smell, it can be reduced by having them neutured but they're never smell free. No big deal though, just have an old top that you put on when handling them and change it and wash hands when you come in, simple If you're after one just as a pet I'd recommend a hob though bud, they're virtually always soft as a brush! 2 Quote Link to post
ants1992 0
thanks mate i wont to can you keep to hobs in the same hutch or do i get to jils Quote Link to post
Gaz_1989 9,539
I disagree with the comments about them "always having a wild side" and "never trust them completely". I've got a hob here that hasn't got a nip in him, he is like a teddy bear with my daughter. Only worked him twice but he did the job for a 8 month old ferret. So I reckon if you put the time in they can be workers and good pets. Except the smell! Lol. Which to be fair I don't mind. 1 Quote Link to post

joe14 98
They are great pets aswell as workers. As for the smell have them neutered and clean them out everyday and make sure they have clean bedding & good diet and theres hardly any smell. I think after a while you get used to the slight smell anyway LOL. Mine climb round me neck and on me head when im cleaning em out. I trust them 100% if I get bit then its obviously my fault. Theres the same chance of a friendly dog biting you as a tame ferret IMO. Edited November 12, 2011 by joe14 1 Quote Link to post
