chartpolski 23,556
Rocky;it's great that you champion the "big dogs"; but lets be fair..... I've owned everything from Whippets to Deerhound X's, and ran them all on rabbits; but a 29" to 31" dog MAY catch rabbits....... but a good 23" to 26" dog SHOULD do far better than the BIG dogs on rabbit !! ATB mate !! Cheers. Quote Link to post

Tiny 7 1,694
Lets face it any size dogs will run them, But if i was going for rabbits day and night id go for somthing 22 to 25'' max really, Like iam saying they are more suited and its as simple as that most peolpe dont by in a pup thats going to make 27/28''+ to be there sole rabbiter there more likely after other quarry really, Like iam saying big dogs catch rabbits well and i know a fellah with a 3/4 bred Gh/Lab 27''+ and the dog must be 80/90lb or near on and iv seen him on rabbits and he does scope them up for fun but he is one of the most agile big dogs iv ever seen, Most other iv seen bent wide and took a bit of room to get up to pace and looked stuiped on fast going rabbits total out monuvered, Wouldnt be my choice for a rabbiter Quote Link to post

trigger2 3,145
personally i think once you go over 27tts you dont gain anything in a dog except weight, and you start losing agility. however big dogs do catch rabbits o.k 1 Quote Link to post
