discipline

Recommended Posts

evrytime someone comes in to my house my dog goes daft.jumping up and licking them and just generally being affectionate.he is always a happy enough dog and never shows sign of aggresion.well tonight my mate came in and as per usual dog going daft.well got bit pissed off and roared at him and lifted my hand as if to skelp him.well the wee shit shows every tooth in its head.no growling or that but defo on the defensive lol

now i must be going soft in my old age, cause there was a time i would have scudded a dog for that, but like i said he is not an aggressive dog.but just goes to show even the most docile ones arent to shy at showing there disdain to discipline lol

I would definatly nip that in the bud mate .

oh dont get me wrong mate if it had shown any attempt to back up its show of agression i would have dealt with it.it was only a defensive sign.made no attempt whatsover to back it up.just showed the fangs and never moved ts head.

Had a dog that did that but in submission when I raised my hand, very excitable dog he was!

yea could very well be that.also he smiles and shows his teeth everytime he meets someone, and to the untrained eye some think he is gonna bite.you need to explain he is happy.

Yeah sounds like my old dog, very submissive, would role on his back when he knew he was in the shit, but if it was just him being cheeky or needing calming down then he'd smile as you've described

you never give him clip before, norm they do that as warning ,that they aint going to get it again.? if it was me i would go back to lead control, when anybody came in or you want him to anything. Get him on the lead and give him a yank, it will stop him in a calmer way ,than shouting or even lifting your hand, the lead works 100%because as soon as you put it on him he will know where he stands with you .

no never really needed to give him a clip bird.like i said he has never shown agression to anyone.maybe it is him being submissive.but cheers for the advice anyway bird

my 7mth pup is the same goes mad at any excuse ! jumps on the other dogs , people , does your head in , i leave a lead on her in the house to give her a jerk , and only when she sits does she get a fuss , this is the most excitable pup ive ever had , not only is it really annoying , i worry she will either hurt her self with the flying leaps , or get bitten by the other dogs .

i know your saying he never backed it up but did you? because you should of put him in his place because if you did'nt he'll do it again

and next time it might be another member of your family
