pianoman 3,587
All the above advice is spot on Tom. Really, for accuracy, you need to consider what the rifle's butt-stock gives you for head-height, as your cheek rests comfortably into aiming position. The old ideal of "Closer the reticle to the bore-centre, the better" is a sound one so long as you are getting a comfy eye line of sight and eye relief on the occular or eye-bell lens with a low mounted scope. You are not having to push and squash you head down lower to get a true sightpicture. Always mount the scope at the height that suits you perfectly, without having to move your head about into uncomfortable positions. ATB Simon 1 Quote Link to post

Tom21 0
Thanks for the advice - as always it is greatly appreciated Think ive decided to go for the hawke sidewinder tactical, looks awsome and i like the reticule. I just prefer the overall look of the hawke compared to the Mtc, im the type of person that gets alot of confidence from using stuff i like the look of and confidence is key. Quote Link to post
mikeyblue 28
Hi Tom, I currently own both a Mamba Lite and a Sidewinder Tac30. They are both excellent scopes for both hunting and I currently shoot a fair few HFT series. The optics on the Tac30 are far superior to the Mamba, but i much prefer the Mamba SCB reticle, to the half mil-dot reticle. As the Mamba Lite has a 25mm tube it is possible to mount it really close to the bore making the trajectory a lot flatter out to my zero (25yds), making the 15mm reducers a lot easier. Both great scopes, just depends on the user. As already sugested get yourself to the shop/club, and have a look through a few. Mikey. Quote Link to post
