Tom21 0
Well guys as you can see from the title im looking for a new scope to go on my hw100, the one i have now ( a hawke map pro) will be going back on my 97k now i have decided to keep it. Im looking for something max. £270 as good quality glass as possible ( no point putting crap scopes on a good gun). Id like something with magnification in the range if 4 - 14 as i want to use it for hunting and for trying my hand at hft. Side parallax would be great, IR would be nice because i have bad eye site and find the black to be a strain alot of the time as i shoot at night. Any recommendations would be greatfuly received. With regards to weight it isnt much of an issue any more because i will be using either a bipod or shooting sticks for sitting, kneeling and standing shots. Quote Link to post

Tom21 0
does the optical quality of the viper compare to that of the more expensive side winder? Edited November 8, 2011 by Tom21 Quote Link to post
Tom21 0
What size scope mounts you think would be suitable for the model Si recommended? Mediums? id like to get the scope as close to barrel as possible. Quote Link to post
davyt63 1,845
does the optical quality of the viper compare to that of the more expensive side winder? i haven't looked through a viper, all i can say these optics are very clear.and that's coming from some one who owns a hawke! What size scope mounts you think would be suitable for the model Si recommended? Mediums? id like to get the scope as close to barrel as possible. if you would like to get it close to the barrel ,then get the low mounts! but Si's Advise is always top notch! i have high mounts on my AATX200HC and I still get good results! the choice is yours Davy Quote Link to post
zini 1,939
Hi Tom, As already as been said if you want to get close to the barrel use the lowest mounts that will suit your scope and objective lens. I like to use high mounts with all my rifles as I find it gives me a better and more comfortable cheek position but that’s just down to personal opinion and feel really. To be honest it doesn’t matter as long as you do your trajectory home work and learn your rifles shooting characteristics buddy. Si Edited November 8, 2011 by zini Quote Link to post
