DOWN BY THE RIVER

Recommended Posts

It started with scraping the ice off the car but finished a brill day. Out with THE GRIFF and ASH today, we decided to do the low fields down by the river. Most of the holes where right on the river bank. We started with a bolter from a hole we could not see right under the washed out roots of a tree, did not know rabbits could walk on water it just skimmed over the top of the water and was off to run another day. Sun out, sound of the water in the background and trout taking fly (NICE). Couple of holes along and we had a double bolter one in net and another runner b£@t&~d was the cry from GRIFF he don't like losing rabbits. At the end of the day the bag was 18 so a very nice stroll down by the river, BRILL.

18 is just right, thats six each, three in each hand :D

It wasn't, 8 were taken back to the car when we stopped for a sandwich and the 10 on the way back at the end of the day were carried over my shoulder, I wanted to try out my new game carrier I got given last week, it worked a treat.

Paul, you forgot to mention me nearly chopping 'Jims' head off with the spade on that last dig. The finder was showing a foot, it was only about 5 inches. Retrieved the rabbit ok though, jim was still locked onto it's head.

Really enjoyed strolling down the river with the purse nets, makes a change from trekking up the hills on the top side of the farm with longnets and the kitchen sink over our shoulders. The sound of the river was quite therapeutic. Got a shock when that rabbit walked on water, it literally ran on the water across the width of the river.
