One of the best ones we made were out of a few drain rods that we pinched out of my dad's shed! Our estate used to be like the wild west/Sherwood forest/Agincourt some days with all the arrows flying round! God knows what would happen if kids done stuff like that these days in the PC health and safety mad climate. There'd have been ASBO's dished out left right and centre. SNAP SHOT 194 Posted November 6, 2011 Report Share Posted November 6, 2011 yep used to do that as a kid too mate, i can't remember exactly but if you use yew and another wood (of which i cannot remember) one is good in tension the other in compression, and makes a great sturdy bow, maybe a future project... dfee 1 Posted November 6, 2011 Author Report Share Posted November 6, 2011 cheers for the comments, the outer wood on yew is good in tension the inner wood is good on compression. thats why its one of the best woods to use but trying to find a length that is long enough and straight and as knot free as possible isnt easy gona try ash next time if i can find some decent stuff.
