dytkos 17,819
Just heard he,s very ill with liver cancer ,I wish the old warrior all the best . I clicked on "like this" just to explain that I like Stanleighs sentiments, not the fact that Smokin'Joe is ill. Cheers, D.

I agree with you as well, a true gladiator of the ring, with the manners of a gentleman. All best wishes and respect to him. B

Read somewhere Ali said it's the closest he came to death when he fought him, think the third fight Frazier also said with a smile on his face on national american tv when Ali lit the olympic torch in 96 shaking like a leaf with parkinsons......." i did that to him "........... Ive always felt Frazier was one of the gamest fighters ive ever seen, mainly due to his come forward style...........but as a human being i think he,s always been a very bitter and poisonous man......that said.....its still a shame to see a legendary boxing figure like him in such a bad way. He never forgave Ali for the Uncle Tom jibe there was definitely no love lost between them. Agree it's a pity when great fighters become seriously ill Edited November 6, 2011 by undisputed

Agree it's a pity when great fighters become seriously ill I don't blame him, Frazier said in his book that Ali was going into black area's and was shouting out things like Frazier is the White man's champion, which considering the time, Frazier felt Ali could of endangered his safety and that of his family. Joe was also a man who came from extreme poverty.......do you think he would have made anywhere near the wealth he did without Ali ?......anybody who ever fought Ali was grateful for the way he could sell a fight....Frazier got that 3 times..... To this day Frazier genuinely believes he won all 3 fights.....he also made a big thing of saying Ali would meet his maker first due to the beating Joe put on him ( his exact words were " taking it out of the judges hands and putting it in Gods hands " )......all said with a smile on the face. Nobody would wish death or even pain on him but ......sad as it is to say, maybe the judges were right after all ......Frazier was far from a nice old fella, one of the good ol boys etc etc.......
