kanigra 110
More control with a springer.I find them easier to train than a terrier. 1 Quote Link to post

brenner 773
ive heard it said by a few that a spaniel is hard to beat but reason i ask is, that the terriers ive seen and used ,i cant really see any room for improvement but then ive never seen an adult springer bush for rabbits . i decided to get a spaniel pup a couple of weeks ago for the simple reason that my back is f****d and having to dig to a terrier thats gone to ground isnt an option. truth be told i havnt seen a terrier pup as comfortable in heavy cover at 3 and 1/2 months as this springer is, considering he only ventured outside the back garden of the breeder when i toolk him home two weeks ago hes pretty impressive to watch. but im left thinkin. can a fully grown springer work cover as well as a small terrier that can fly through small holes in the cover with ease ? is their size a draw back or do they generally just burst through heavy cover anyway ? markja 51
if you dont want to be digging the spaniel wins heads down. but saying that not every terrier goes to ground. 2 Quote Link to post

RubyTex 1,957
Springer hands down, my mates terrier is always finding it's way underground although it does do a good job through the cover. Springers will smash through anything to find that quarry Quote Link to post
moonlighter 1,163
Do springers differ much to cockers for this job? If so, in what way? Quote Link to post
dimmock20 278
Cockers are smaller so can get into tighter spaces and tend to be more biddable springers take abit more training tend to be abit more head strong but once trained equally as good. I think it comes down to preference and what they are doing flushing tight cover just for rabbits cocker would be your best bet IMO, if your flushing bigger game or shooting geese and duck over water etc you would want a nice strong springer Quote Link to post

moonlighter 1,163
I've only ever seen videos on YouTube, as all my shooting friends have labs. But they do seem to cover a lot of ground very quick, which makes you wonder if they miss stuff? Quote Link to post
