ive heard it said by a few that a spaniel is hard to beat but reason i ask is, that the terriers ive seen and used ,i cant really see any room for improvement but then ive never seen an adult springer bush for rabbits . i decided to get a spaniel pup a couple of weeks ago for the simple reason that my back is f****d and having to dig to a terrier thats gone to ground isnt an option. truth be told i havnt seen a terrier pup as comfortable in heavy cover at 3 and 1/2 months as this springer is, considering he only ventured outside the back garden of the breeder when i toolk him home two weeks ago hes pretty impressive to watch. but im left thinkin. can a fully grown springer work cover as well as a small terrier that can fly through small holes in the cover with ease ? is their size a draw back or do they generally just burst through heavy cover anyway ?

app. the feedback lads. and while im askin questions heres another.. has anyone had or know of anyone thats had success in encouraging a spaniel to give voice when flushing. eg. by letting the spaniel chase rabbit after rabbit out in the open that hes never gonna catch in the hope he starts to yap after it and develop the habit full time?

Cockers are smaller so can get into tighter spaces and tend to be more biddable springers take abit more training tend to be abit more head strong but once trained equally as good. I think it comes down to preference and what they are doing flushing tight cover just for rabbits cocker would be your best bet IMO, if your flushing bigger game or shooting geese and duck over water etc you would want a nice strong springer
