Thanks for all the replies. The pups going nowhere. She was bought for ferreting and whether she cut the mustard or not she was staying put. I'll do everything within my power to get her right and go

I wouldn't cull her. Not my idea of a good outcome. Not saying it's wrong but not my scene. I got the pup with her intended as a ferreting dog. She's part of the family and if she never ferrets then she will be on the couch, if she never walked again shed either be pts or her arse sat on some wheels. Probably the latter. I'm just a nice guy. Thanks for all the help and suggestions. It's a kick in the teeth when this happens but that's life. Onwards and upwards

What stupid whippet comments ?? Whin never said to cull her,, just rehome,, thats his opinion based on decades of dog work !. Lees dog is as much a pet as a worker so he`ll keep her, , But lets face it, if a dog appears fragile,, and is destined for a working life,, You would have to think hard about it eh?? I know I would.

Lee, I`m gutted for you mate. that really is bad luck. I would be worried about having to wrap a working dog in cotton wool, but I know you`ll put your utmost into getting the most from her. Good luck,, I`ll catch up with you when I get home mate! see how she is.

It will be a shame if she turns out fragile, but we`ll just have to wait and see,, hope not, but I know you`ll still keep her busy.

Cheers rake. It's a real setback when this happens when I was looking forward to getting her out in another 3-4 weeks. Had her back with the ferrets and the stress of carrying her about was put to the back of my mind. Maybe I'm

Guilty of over doing it too soon but then if that was the case then it would have been her left leg that would have gave in surely? Everybody is entitled to their opinion but like rake has said she was always going to be a pet and ferreting dog second. If she was to be an out and out running dog at it 5 times a week then maybe she would have to be rehomed but that's not the case. I'll see what I can do, empty pockets again.

Got to hand it to my missus though, she's the one at home juggling a baby, carrying the pup about and running the place when I'm

Working.

She's still young so hopefully there's hope with age on her side. She does seem fragile but she's a cracker all the same. Thanks again. Slowly slowly this time

Round

I would get a second opinion about there being an underlying bone condition , especially as your vet seems to have missed the break on your first visit. Good luck with the pup it will get there in the end .

agree, would get a second opinion as it doesnt seem to make sense just to break bones whilst walking.

I would be worried about running it know matter how long it's left, if it puts a tight turn in chances are it will pull up laim at best. Broke my leg 3 years ago and I can now only do 20 minutes twice a week on a tredmill anymore and I go laim for a week.
