MikeTheDog 153
If you have an infestation of fleas just treating the dogs won't solve the problem!...You will have to treat the kennels and the house as well as the dogs. If you aint got the cash to deal with the problem give the pub/fags a miss for a couple of days

skycat 6,173
There is no point just treating the dog. Fleas jump on to the dog for a feed, but lay their eggs in the carpets, kennel corners, behind skirting boards in the house, under felt roofs etc etc. The larvae feed on dirt, discarded skin cells etc until they turn into adults. So YOU NEED TO TREAT THE ENVIRONMENT TOO! Get a spray like Indorex or Acclaim 2000. Spray the entire inside of the kennel. Change all bedding. Pay particular attention to cracks between boards etc. If the dog comes inside your house at all you'll have to do the whole house as well, which means under the sofas, backs of soft chairs, under carpets etc etc. Not forgetting inside cupboards; the list goes on! If the dog only lives out in a kennel, don't forget to spray the ground underneath the kennel or anywhere in the immediate vicinity where it is dry and doesn't get rained on. Malt 379
It ain't much for a vial of spot on, just find a vet which sells them individually. My vet sells a single treatment for about £6/7..

Attack Fell Terrier 864
Buy the dog a flea collar if you don't want to spend £20 on Frontine, they're about £6 I think, but that wont treat for ticks. If there's a lot of fleas then it's no good just treating the dog, you'll need to wash all its bedding and give the area it sleeps in a real good vacuuming. If you don't the dog will just keep on getting them. I use Home Flea spray where they sleep which is about £3 - £4 a tin and lasts ages, and use Frontline to treat the dogs.
