lurchergrrl 1,441
If you glue/staple it before you clean it you'd be keeping all the dirt and possible infection inside I'd clean it with saline and use cut and heal or purple spray depending on how bad it is. A cut foot needs resting - glue or no glue, don't run it until it's properly knit. Lead walks only for about 10 days if it's deep.
DogMagic 461
A little trich that was shown to me recently. If it is a deep cut fill a syringe up with hibiscrub then squirt the hibiscrub into the cut. Give it a bit of pressure. This will flush out any debris and clean the cut out nicely. Is the cut on the pad or on top or between the toes?

lurchergrrl 1,441
If it does look mucky, a bit of Manuka honey in a dressing over night works a treat too
paulus 26
if its a cut pad then forget stappling it its a waste of time, as said hibiscrub or salt water, most cuts if kept clean will heal in time.

sandymere 8,263
Clean water warmed to blood temp, squirt in if you have a syringe to wash out any debris, close if closable then rest until knitted then gentle till settled properly. Using harsh cleaners may well add to the damage.

Hannah4181 260
I wouldn't staple a cut pad, unless the dog is totally immobilised there will be pressure on the wound, and the staples around it, you will end up causing an even bigger wound. As has been suggested, clean with salt water and allow to heal naturally, if you can put a picture on of how deep it is, it may help. Pads tend to heal extremely well, regardless of depth if left alone and kept clean.
