B.P.R 2,798
How long do you walk your dogs for and what type of walks road/bike/ run off the lead etc. I see people saying that they do 6-7 mile a day but I could never manage that with working. Mine get about 2-3 mile road/bike walk a day unless I'm home late and let off for An hour a couple of times day at weekends or when I'm not working. Being realistic what is your schedule like? I walk them as much as I can but trying to get the balance between working/ walking the dogs and family. Sometimes all I want to do is relax but if the dogs haven't been out all day I feel guilty and make myself get them out. Hard work after working a full shift but it's got to be done. Watching the pup taking shape gives Me a motive to take them out and I do enjoy it, even if it's raining and now Dark when I come in. Just looking for Your routines. Cheers.lee 1 Quote Link to post

rocky1 942
it various now as they get worked alot on the lamp so they don,t need as much as they were getting in the summer ,couple of big day walks a week 5 mile + ,and then just a few mile round local fields everyday or just couple mile on the roads Quote Link to post
ianh 83
hour walk before work at 7 hour and hour to two hours at night, at average walking speed thats 7-10 mile a day. but its not religious, you gotta do something other than dogs, family friends etc so sometimes he might only get half hour in evening but we normally make up for it next day. now i live right on edge of clumber i have miles for bike work too so that will be same time but more miles and better fitness. car works great too but i find it hard to find anywhere completely safe apart from my mates neck of the woods where we work them but cant get down there everyday. Lab 10,979
Between half and hour and an hour everyday. In the season they are getting worked all day 3/4 times a week as well. Quote Link to post

rob190364 2,594
If I'm walking I take mine out for a minimum of 90 mins every day, about 60 mins on bike. Don't time it or anything but it always sees to be about an hour and a half. I don't really measure the miles I walk, don't need to cos she's off lead 99.9% of the time unless I'm running her with bike. So she covers far more ground than I walk anyway. The only time I do less than that is when I've have a big lamping or ferreting session the day before, I probably do an hour max then just to give her a bit of a rest. I would never let her go a whole day without going for a walk though even if she has had a hard session...... for psychological reasons (for both her and me!) more than anything! Quote Link to post
moonlighter 1,164
Mine get half hour run on the beach before work and same again when I finish about 4ish. I then lamp them 2/3 times a week, but this varies between 3 or 4 runs within walking distance from my house (more of a walk before bed time but with the odd rabbit kicking about) and what you would call a proper nights lamping where the dogs come home knackered! Then I'll get out once at the week end, ferreting, foxing, or running. If I don't get out at the weekend I'll run them behind the motor for 7/8 miles. I'm out the house and back in less than an hour this way. Quote Link to post

Lab 10,979
Thing is you can walk 20 miles if you like everyday but if the dog is buy your side or on a lead then its hardly excersice. My dogs get free reign to hunt and if i do 2/3 miles you can bet they'll be running 4/5 miles. Quote Link to post
