friggin hell vin,all this song and dance, theres a good few hundred of us here that will lie and wait in your garden!! All we want is a bacon butty and all your permission

a freind of mine owns a pub and when he was goin to work exactley the same thing was hapening down here in cardiff he when and bought a doberman pup only a small bitch but what a dog good with his gr

I'd personally go for a GSD or Malinois and get some proper training put into it. You'd own a dog that you would enjoy rather than a lunatic you couldn't trust, and I know which one would be the first

A guard dog shouldnt need training.A protection/attack dog needs careful training but a guard dog should naturaly guard its teritory

Sounds like a recipe for disaster, that one :icon_eek:

Im no expert but i get what the fellas saying.............surely any dog with a job to do needs to have a natural urge to do that job..............id imagine even if left untrained any guard dog should have a natural instinct to guard.

Not every guardy dog has guard dog training.............im not saying they shouldnt recieve training of course they should...............but plenty dogs will show a natural urge to guard without training and without being an unstable lunatic.

Same as with most things.....choose the right breed of dog for your needs and your half way there, unfortunately most folk dont.

Your right......... but probably the reason visitors, posties and the likes have to run like f**k. Surely a decent trained guard dog would be able to tell the difference from an intruder and a visitor??? I dont know.... :hmm:

I get what you guys are all saying, a dog needs the natural urge to guard BUT needs this natural talent nuturing and homing. A good level of obedience is a must and i NEVER trained a dog for serious bitework unless it was also very well obedience trained. In this day and age you MUST have a well trained dog, if a dog is about to bite someone a solid recall is a must, especially if its a mistake and the dog may bite the wrong person..........

Me neither mate.....................will a dog know the difference between my friend jumping my back fence because i locked myself out and a burglar jumping my back fence to rob my gaff....im not so sure.

My way of thinking is you cant put in what nature left out.......hence youd have a hard job turning some couch potato pooch into a guard dog......but a dog with natural instinct but rough round the edges would be a breeze....no ?.....Simoman seems to know his shit on guard dogs so id take his word for it :D

thanks everyone..and i mean everyone..some great comments..im 1st of all gonna be looking into moving the fook out of here..and then if not battering down my hatches even more..the last thing i want is another pain in the arse dog if i can avoid it.

I see getting a guard dog as the last option.

i cant afford to spend daft money on an attack trained GSD from some pro company..and taking my chances on a rescue dog of this type is always a risk..

like poacher3161 says, slowly slowly catchy monkey..LOL.

I need to set the fukkers up and lay in wait for em..giv em some urban justice..LOL

FFS Vin is it as bad as that then again wat will be more frustrating is the police probably know who it is but their more concernd about a bit of poaching on the nearby lords estate.I would try and get some names and even if it ment paying some body get them to have a word in their shell like word will soon get round.IMO they want their fekin hands tieing to the railway tracks.

when police did turn up 15 mins later..they were more concerned about a job one of the fellas i had described had done 1 hour before he was at my house... they had him on cctv and he fitted my description.. still wont have caught him though because they are ffing useless.
