Ideation 8,216
Had a quick look out in the pissing rain earlier, as it was getting dark, just to check out some new fields where they have recently planted the winter wheat. According to the farmer, there have been a few bunnys spotted a long the one hedge line and he wants them gone. Thought it was worth a quick look, just to see if it's worth a morning or a day on it, and to show my face quickly as i was only told today. Thought it would be rude not to take a ferret a long, so loaded up the dog and a jill, and went for a wander. There was plenty of activity about, and the cover has started to die back a bit at this spot, but still, there was not much actually to ground. Possibly something to do with the large, lush, gardens that bordered the field. However, managed two straight forward mark and bolts before darkness and rain sent me home. Both of the rabbits bolted in places that would have been difficult for me to get to, obstructed by fencing / cover etc and may have resulted in the rabbit getting free, but once again i was reminded how useful a small, quick dog is around the holes, in this kind of landscape. mattydski 560
Some of the best trips are the shortest ones, and right enough, second most important tool in the box when ferreting is the dug! Quote Link to post
