High velocitys with silencer (.22lr)

Can hv's damage a silencer on a .22lr, i know a silencer dont do much to make them quieter, just heard they can damage it. Whats your views.

I use the same mod for both my .22lr and .17hmr with no problems whatsoever.

As long as its up to the job ie most are tested and will say on them what they will fit . Your avarage air rifle mod will stand up to very light pressure that a rim fire will put out just make sure you have it on your ticket.

If the mod is proofed and stamped .22LR, then whatever load you put through should do no harm. An air rifle mod might not be up to the hugely higher pressures, though most of them are exactly the same as the rimfire mods.

 

As for "not doing much to reduce the noise" I beg to differ. An HV might have the supersonic crack, but a decent mod can reduce the sound signature greatly.

I put threw a few boxes as target practice just to get rid of them and it didn't harm the silencer

will be fine through a parker hale, all springs and washers nothing in there that would get damaged

I've run a Parker Hale .22 mod on my WMR and it works fine. The WMR runs at 300 odd ft.lb, and the HV LR's are only around 100, so you'll be fine.
