zini 1,939
Hi lads, Well I started my new job today working with the TA and so far it looks like its going to be a good job. One of my new tasks is to get up and ruining a new air rifle club using the newly built 25 metre indoor range we have at the TA centre. I have also been asked to help train the TA soldiers in the marksmanship principles and get them all shooting better and straighter before going on to bigger calibre rifles. I start that task tonight when we have 30 soldiers or so coming in to the centre for their training night. I’ve also just got the task of culling quite alot of squizzers and magpies from the TA centre and land owned by it. Here are the photos of the new range I’m now in control of. zini 1,939
Cheers lads , Mike one of the fundamental things that makes a shooter better and improve is shooting from a comfortable, stable and well built shooting position whilst being relaxed, hence the mats. Tonight I re trained 7 soldiers in shooting techniques and after only 2 hours practice all 7 improved from their first attempts at shooting a 10 shot group at 25 metres. 2 actually managed a 10 shot 1 hole group using my r10 and LJ's Ultra that i would of been proud of. pianoman 3,587
Looks good Si. I think you'll be very happy here. I had a bit of a re-union recently with my old RAF Regt. Squadron pals and the guys now serving 60 RAF Regiment as Officers. They report a lot of new lads coming in are showing signs of actual fear of firearms. (Christ knows why they join up as gunners?!) Anyway, something like this you're running is going to prove valuable indeed. Seems there are not many youngsters joining to serve, have any real shooting experienc beyond pissing about with computer games and crap like that. Good show mate. Please keep us informed of how you get along. All the best with new job Si. Simon Edited November 2, 2011 by pianoman Quote Link to post

zini 1,939
Thanks Simon, Fry and Gary. No Im still in the army for another 15 months Fry then Im Mr Pittaway (thank goodness) 22 years is a long time to spend in the military. My new job is training the TA. Gary I hope that the club comes good pal. I’ve got some TA soldiers bringing in their rifles next Tues to have a bit of a plink and attempt a 25 metre new Si Pittaway challenge that Im thinking up. Going to get some washers with 7mm and 6mm holes in the middle and set then up and see who can shoot through them without touching them at 25m. Also going to set some match sticks up and see who can hit them. Should be fun. Simon, Yeah I know what you mean pal. This range hasn’t been used really in the past 2 years since it was made so the TA haven’t had any shooting practice. Ill have them al shooting well within the next 6 months Im sure.
