44david44 43
just copied this from my last thread my missus had the photos out looking for some for the frame, came across these picture of my uncles old dogs PHOTOS TAKEN OF PHOTOS i was abit young to have seen this one working as he was ages with me and i must be around 6 in the photo going on what the f**k i am wearing!! this is cat, he was my uncles 1st lurcher and he told me a few stories about him, unsure of the breeding but said he had heart and wouldnt catch a hare by pace but would run them into the ground, he broke a front leg once and one of his rear twice and was retired by the time this photo was taken. my memories of cat remain are that he would walk past the binbags and away down to safeway and into the skip for the good gear. he lived to a good age of 18yrs and i was abit gutted tbh as we had grown up together i have better pics somewhere and will look them out RIP CAT this is junior he was a 3/4grey 1/4deer, he is grand-sire to both my bitch on the dams side, i did get to see him work! remember the first time i saw him take a hare and that was when i decided that i wanted this, at the age of 5 he was put a hancock bred blue merle bitch and my uncle kept 2 bitches back and i have bitches off of both them, junior was still chasing hares at ten and i'll always remember him putting a hare up and into a wood only for a roe to come out of the wood and into a big field...... junior also wasnt stupid take him a walk in the morning no problem, take him a walk at lunch and he flung you a deafy and f****d off for a few hours, found out that he was buggering off to the chippy along from the school and all the kids were feeding him! lol and something rings a bell about a wee story in the town paper about him chasing a roe along the high street! he passed away at the decent age of 14/15 and i will always be thankful for 2 things 1. getting me into lurchers and 2. my two bitches hope to keep the blood going. RIP JUNIOR another photo, the merle bitch is out of junior, she was called meg and the fawn dog was a pup out of her first litter, my bitch came out of the second, an accidental litter as she was around 10 at the time, my uncle rates her as the best worker hes owned, she passed away last june aged 12 RIP MEG ha ha mate remember good old junior he was a legend.if I remember right he did not just chase a deer along the highstreet but along the highstreet at dinner time loads of people about chased it round a round about then inside a chipshop back out the chip shop and chased it about another few hundred meters in the end the deer got away.but the dog had a big write up in the paper. What a legend. Quote Link to post
