Guest world.hunters
iv been looking around for some pet insurance for my 1/4collie 3/4grey but i am just wondering who people would reccomend and there experiance with them im leaning towards Morethan as its just under a tenner a month which dont seem to bad also should i class my dog as a Collie Cross or a Greyhound Cross (Greyhound cross cost more ) i would expect that due to the fact there is more grey in the dog i would have to go for the second choice or would i be mistaken cheers Quote Link to post
poacherjim 0
im with direct line but getting too costly with them 65.00 excess gonna go with marks and spencer no excess which is a bonus when you got 2 walking vet bills. as mine only have to look at barbed wire and they bleed Quote Link to post
barney 0
marks and spencer for me,got the lurcher on with no excess and £7000 a year cover for about a tenner a month.think you can just describe them as cross breed rather than name the cross....I'd have had to do that with him cos don't know his breeding. They pay out quite quickly too and my vet was happy to get fee straight from them. Simoman 110
What you don't want to do is say your dogs a working dog or the premiums will be increased......... Quote Link to post

Guest MOLLY
Just class it as a cross breed which is what a lurcher is you DONT have to specify the breeding, people who get from rescue centres etc would'nt know would they? My next plan is to save the same amount of money i spend per year on insurance in a seperate bank account soley for the dogs, whilst still paying the insurance for one year just incase. Then im going to have a direct debit to take the same amount out of my current account into the new account instead of giving the insurance company all my hard earned dosh. I pay £60 per month for insurance, and have used it very little....One bad fox bite needing an anesthetic and stiches for Moll in 10yrs, three ops for the same complaint for Jazz in 8yrs. One sedative for Doris to remove a grass seed in her throat in 6yrs. One op to remove a grass seed for Khan in 4yrs, nothing for Terra in 3yrs. Say it was roughly £100 per time after ive paid the extortinate excess (£70). That is only £600 the insurance have paid out. Say ive paid roughly £120 per dog per year (£10 per month)... Molly=£1,200 Jazz=£960 Doris=£720 Khan=£480 Terra=£360 Total = £3,720, minus the £600 actually spent = £3,120 which could be sitting in a bank account now gaining interest for me and not the insurance company!
